Cuisinett Profile

Cuisinett Profile

We wanted to direct readers to a nice profile of Cuisinett and its owner, Geoffroy Raby, in thesixfifty.com. The City of Good Eating has been big fans of Cuisinett since it opened, and it looks like it continues to thrive. Geoffroy is super-friendly and engaging, and all of his food is outstanding. We even highlighted the restaurant in 2019 (the Merguez sandwich is still on high rotation of dishes I order in San Carlos)!

Updated Top 5

Updated Top 5

The City of Good Eating has updated its Top 5 recommendation list. The list was last completed in March 2019, and a lot has happened since then. There has been some restaurant turnover plus the pandemic which has changed some menus and put more of a focus on takeout and outdoor dining. We hope you enjoy the updated recommendations!

Town Highlighted as Top Chronicle Brunch Spot

Town Highlighted as Top Chronicle Brunch Spot

This week the San Francisco Chronicle published an article on the best brunch spots in the Bay Area, and San Carlos’ most famous restaurant, Town, was included in the list of 23 restaurants. The Chronicle has been historically biased against restaurants outside of the city and within the larger Bay Area, but that is becoming less so under current restaurant critic Soleil Ho (who replaced Michael Bauer in 2019) — so it’s good to see the San Carlos shout out…

San Carlos Adds the Block Party

San Carlos Adds the Block Party

San Carlos has a strong traditional of community events throughout the year, including the Art & Wine Faire, Hometown Days, and the weekly Farmers’ Market. Taking place Sunday, September 8th from 4-8pm on the 600 and 700 blocks of Laurel Street, the Block Party will include takeout…

San Carlos Wine Trail

San Carlos Wine Trail

For a while now, San Carlans were able to brag that for a town of only 30,000 residents, it boasted both a brewery (Devil’s Canyon) and a winery (Domenico), both of which are excellent. Well, success breeds success, and now the City of Good Living (and Eating) is the home of no less than three breweries and five wineries. So, although a trip to California’s wine country is always fun, one can avoid the 75 mile drive and follow the…

Deep Dish Battle

Deep Dish Battle

San Carlos has six — yes, six — pizza places (not counting the three Italian restaurants where you can also order Neapolitan-style pizza or the many places where there is some sort of “flatbread” on the menu). Among this group, San Carlos is blessed to have two deep-dish pizzerias in Blue Line and Patxi’s, approximately 500 feet away from each other on Laurel Street. They both also serve thin-crust pizza, and we have many friends who go to each specifically…

The San Carlos Tunaverse

The San Carlos Tunaverse

We’re big fans of tuna, particularly ahi Poke, the marinated raw tuna (or other fish) dish served often with onions and other spices. We have a few favorite tuna dishes in San Carlos that stand out, and interestingly these are all dishes that serve tuna or poke in non-traditional ways. Ahi Tuna Poke Sliders at Blind TastingĀ – one of our favorite bites in San Carlos. In each order you get two marinated poke sliders with a little cabbage and aioli…
